It should produce a nice twangy sound. Admittedly, the picking on this part is fairly random and incomprehensible, and also each time they play it. What I have captures the essence of it, and sounds pretty good if only have one guitar (there are two picking in the recording), although I'm sure it's exactly what they play. You can try messing around with different picking patterns with same notes, which are definitely right. As he starts singing the verse, only Guitar 1 is going with the harmonics. The picking in when his voice starts to tail off (after half the harmonic riff is done). At the end of the verse, Guitar 2 plays the intro riff again four times, while Guitar 1 with harmonics.
