Turn and face the jury
It's time we plead our case to thee
Failing to remember exactly how this came to be
In night comes a shade only dreamed of by day
Sentenced with a paragraph
A hyperbolic epitaph
The taste decays as we descend the endless days
To feed and prey upon the fading fortunes of tomorrow
The agony of all you fear, repeats itself into the mirror
The mantras of the morbid
Unbound (how do you plea?)
Unwound (the verdict, please)
Guilty by association
Inside these walls we wait
Suffering divided by seasons
Bringing the hammer down
Condemned beyond evidence of reason
Life of concrete and iron
We beg for a final reprieve
Light the torch, and bear the shame
Of those who cannot believe
We became too big to fall so soft
Too exposed to feel this lost
Candy coated hammers pound at the back of our fading resolve
To believe
It all was a childish fever dream
Too big to explore, too far to run and scream
Bleeding day by day
The wretched carcass on display
Cast aside, and banished to the unknown
Mistakes, we've made a few
But what were we supposed to do?
Beaten, torn, and tattered to the bone
